I knew a man once who lived his life of turmoil because of the poor choices he made. He could find no peace until one day he hit rock bottom. His poor choices and drinking all led to this one great and final poor choice. He had married a woman for both right and wrong reasons and they had a child. The mother and the man argued and fought all the time until one day the man left on his daughter’s 2nd birthday. The last thing his daughter said as he left was “Bye Daddy!” For she thought he was just coming back. But he never did…
The man went away and was haunted day and night by the last thing his daughter said. He would hear a child cry in a store and he would have to run outside and get away from the sound of any crying child. He missed his daughter terribly and was at the lowest point of his entire life.
Being brought up in church as a child he knew about God’s word and It was then he cried out to Jesus to help and forgive him. Why now he was wondering… why now…?
It took awhile but over the years he was blessed with a wonderful wife and child. He was born again. However, it came at a cost. He had to be broken to realize Jesus was the only way.
To this day he prays for his daughter and tries to keep in touch. Something was lost between them but he never stops trying to get it back.
Don’t wait until you are so broken like this man to cry out to Jesus. The time is now. (2 Cor 6:2)
But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” (Matthew 14:30)
As Jesus talked with Nicodemus, He said, “‘I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.’ ‘How can a man be born when he is old?’ Nicodemus asked. ‘Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother’s womb to be born!’ Jesus answered, ‘I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, “You must be born again”’” (John 3:3-7)
22 And this righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no distinction, 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus (Romans 3:22-24)
